How to Play Romanian Folk Violin, Vol.1 by Miamon Miller is an excellent introduction to the folk music of this beautiful country.  Miamon gives background information as well as transcriptions to 10 folk dance pieces. The book is only available as a download with PDFs for the written materials and mp3 sound files for the audio which illustrate each of the transcriptions.  The player can then learn not only melodies and ornamentation but the style of playing rhythmic and harmonic back-up.
